Primary Learning

Year 3 to Year 6 Overview – Middle and Upper Primary

The focus in 3-6 is taking the foundational skills learned in early childhood and apply them across all learning areas. Students are given increased responsibility for managing and organising their learning. They are encouraged to become more independent and to develop their ability to work collaboratively through planned and meaningful activities that require sustained focus, interaction and decision making.

There is an expectation that students will reflect on their learning and work practices and consider ways in which these might be improved or expanded on for each learning area and audience. In Years 3-6 there is a strong emphasis on students making sense of the world around them and being able to problem solve effectively across the learning areas, using the WA Curriculum.

The middle and upper primary school program at Bullsbrook College continues to embed strong literacy and numeracy skills whilst expanding on the specialist subjects provided.  Students in years 3 – 6 will experience a more integrated curriculum as learning areas such as HASS and English, and maths and science complement each other well.

Specialist Subjects offered Year 1 – 6 include:

  • Science
  • Physical education
  • Visual Art
  • Music and performing arts
  • Languages: Indonesian
